Week 1 Diving right in!

Tuesday 25th June, 18:30-20:30

We will be taking a look at some examples of worldbuilding + key features that help get us started. We will then dive right into making our world journal with a series of sketching exercises to help give our world an identity.

Week 2 You are here ->

Tuesday 2nd July, 18:30-20:30

In this session, we will be playing around with the idea of fantastical landscapes, illustrating an example landscape from our budding new world. This will help us build up our imaginative thinking and explore the use of colour and shape, and the relevance they have in this world.

Week 3 You are not alone.

Tuesday 9th July, 18:30-20:30

Now we have a basic feel for our world + how it looks, it’s time to add life! In this session we will do a series of sketching exercises, to explore the kind of people + creatures who live with us in our world.

Week 4 Creating a scene!

Tuesday 16th July, 18:30-20:30

It’s time to bring together our first illustration of this world. We will spend this session combining all we have learned, finishing up with sharing our creations + exploring what can be done with the skills + world journal we have created.

Materials list: Basic materials will be provided, but we recommend each student getting their own so they can practice in between sessions and have their own materials ready to go after the course.

A sketchbook/sketchpad a set of basic drawing pencils, colouring pencils, fineliner pens or Biro style ballpoint pens work well too. The Works have a wide range for the artist just starting out and they are very budget friendly too!
