Toy Fix - A Repair Cafe Special!

  • Makers Mews The Mews, Harford Road Ivybridge, England, PL21 0AS United Kingdom (map)

We’re bringing an EXTRA Repair Cafe for January, to help with the Christmas Calamities of broken toys!

Thanks to some funding from Ivybridge’s County Councillor Roger Croad, we are able to add an extra event to our Repair Cafe calendar!

Should the worst thing happen + toys get broken this holiday, we’ve got you. Calm the tears with the solution of joining us at our Toy Fixing Repair Cafe in January.

We’ll set up different stations for y’all to visit/man:

  • wood, plastic + glue

  • tech + tiny screwdrivers

  • needles + sewing machines

  • miscellaneous + WD40 + gaffa tape

If you’ve not been to one of our Repair Cafes before, here’s our usual spiel:

We get together once a month, bringing together skilled volunteers, tea, cake + you guys with your broken thingamabobs.

Our aim is to save salvageable items headed for landfill, whilst sharing + learning skills, and meeting new people in our community.

How it works:

  1. Bring your broken doodad, along with any known parts needed to fix it (For example, to replace a broken zip, we’ll need an alternative zip - we don’t have supplies).

  2. In tandem with one of our helpful hosts, fill in a registration form to log your Repair.

  3. Grab a cuppa, cake + convo, whilst you wait…

  4. Join one of our Fixers to nosy around your item + start fixing.

  5. Chat, question, learn, exchange.

  6. Leave, feeling content*, with your (hopefully) repaired item + a new experience.

*with an insatiable thirst to find more broken things.

The Repair Cafe is a not-for-profit community project, powered by volunteers, generously giving their time + skills. Donations towards the running of the events are welcomed.

If you are feeling unsure, you are very welcome to pop down + have a look around. Come in for tea, cake, and a chat- we can advise you about future repairs and/or volunteering yourself.

Additionally, if you would like to join our cohort of volunteers, or if you have any questions, please contact howdy@makersmews.com

PLEASE NOTE: This is not a commercial service- there are no promises or guarantees of a fix, just volunteers giving their best efforts to save your items for you.

You do not need to book- it’s a drop-in service.
The event will be hosted on both the ground floor + first floor. We do not have a lift. More information about our access shortcomings can be found on our Accessibilty page.
