Part of the Sensible Skills: social change leaders workshop collection

In this 3-hour session we will be looking at ‘bigger picture thinking’ – how you can get all the different parts of your organisation summarised on one (large) piece of paper, and how you can use and refer back to this when working on the strategy of your business.

You may have heard of Business Model Canvas before but have no idea where to start with it, or perhaps you have no idea what that term even means but know you want to have an easy, flexible and understandable way of communicating your plans. Maybe you have been asked for a business plan from a funder? Or you simply want to get it all down so its clear going into the new year.

This workshop is for you, if you want to take some time out from your organisation to think about how your business actually works, how the different parts interact and what you need to think about for the longer term success of your business.

We will have a go at laying that out in one diagram using a tried and tested business planning tool which is known for being dynamic and accessible.

Using a Business Model Canvas (adapted for Social Enterprises) to get your whole plan for your org in one place that's adaptable

This is a crash course- a place to start, and will use real life examples with hands on activities, to get you building your own Social Enterprise Model Canvas straight away. It probably won't be finished by the end of the session, but you will be a lot nearer than when you came into the room.

If you're not sure what we are talking about when we say Business Model Canvas, to help you decide if it is for you, check out this little explainer video from Strategyzer

The workshop runs from 10am-1pm, with the option to bring a packed-lunch to share over networking/final questions until 1.30pm.

Bring a pen + notebook. We’ll provide the giant paper!

Tea, coffee + cake provided :-)

The 'Sensible Skills' workshop series is aimed at Founders, Leaders and Doers in Social Enterprise, who want to learn, refine, develop and put into action, tools they know will help their business work better.

The idea is that a bit of focussed time, some expertise in the room, along with sharing that space with others also trying to get to grips with it, will be enough to get you stepping up your skills in no time!

Each topic has been suggested by a social entrepreneur and turned into a hands-on practical application workshop.

Delivered in person in Devon AND repeated online. The workshop series is a collaboration between Chloe Tingle from Lend A Helping Hand, and Jess Holilland from JCH Consultancy.

The sessions are in small groups (maximum 10 people), face to face across various locations in Devon, on different days of the week, to try to make them as accessible as possible. We have also converted each workshop to an online version for those that are unable/prefer not to travel.
